With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
Thankfully we were at home and not trapped across borders like so many other bands.
How has that affected your plans for the coming months? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
Honestly we have been on a long hiatus and only recently started playing together again. So the pandemic actually worked to strengthen us. The band is one of our “social bubbles” No tours were planned but a new record has begun to form. We have about a dozen new songs we are still working on.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home?
We have been a band since the early 2000’s so we are already close friends. However, we have strengthened our friendships in the band and with all of our musical friends in fact. Writing and sharing riffs back and forth through various technologies like text and Dropbox or messenger. It has been a lot of fun to see what everyone is working on while caged up at home. We also began doing backyard “Covid friendly jams” in the summer. It was great to play a bunch of old cover tunes with friends and the neighbourhood even supported us with applause from the back alleys
What was the first thing you did/place you went to now the country is starting to slowly re-open?
Wings and beer at River City Revival house. Duh!
Favourite Starlite Room Moment?
This will be something different for all of us but we are all so involved and connected to the Starlite room and it’s people. Over the last decade or more we have been there either to play or support our friends bands or to witness some of the acts that inspire us. It really is THE stage to play in Edmonton. I know that Beej fondly remembers opening for Napalm Death at the Starlite (Back when it was called the Bronx). I most recently recall playing there in an SNFU cover band with Braden and a few other local musicians. I also think the band would agree that playing with Patrick Watson was one of our more memorable performances in the building. Truly though, there are far too many memories to name.
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
We are all affected by this pandemic and saddened by how it has ravaged the music and art scene. We all want to get back out there to support and PLAY live music! So please support your local venues in any way you can and WEAR A MASK!
