With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?

I was about halfway through a western Canadian tour when the world started changing. I had performed in BC and Alberta as everything was heightening and I was able to squeeze in my birthday show on March 13th back home in Calgary. After that all events were cancelled, that included the rest of my tour through Saskatchewan for the Junos.

How has that affected your plans for the coming months? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?

I've had over 70 events cancel and have been hesitant to plan too far into the future. Luckily, I had already released my album, so I could still promote songs digitally. I've been using the time to recharge my creative batteries, write, and enjoy summer.

What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home?

I think we will see a great creative renaissance after all of this. Creative people have finally had the time to write or paint or record their masterpiece. I've been using my free time to write new material but also to re- focus my art and discover what's most important to me. I'm excited to start work on a new album that will capture the feelings of this whole experience. Also, I've used this opportunity to do things that I usually can't do in a summer because I'm always touring: woodworking, camping, fishing, and playing ball with friends. For me, there has been a bit of a silver lining.

What was the first thing you did/place you went to now the country is starting to slowly re-open?

I was really conscious of the Alberta small businesses. So I've made an effort to support the craft breweries and local restaurants, especially the ones with dog friendly patios! Also, I can't wait to tour again. I miss friends from across the country, some of which haven't even heard my new songs live. So the next step will be start planning that.

Favourite Starlite Room Moment?

I signed my first management agreement many years ago at the WCMAs. We went to the Starlite Room to celebrate with countless shots of Sambuca. My hands were sticky, the bands were great, and I was excited for a future in rock'n'roll.

Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?

Stay safe, I miss you, and I'll see you as soon as I can!
