With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
We were in our respective homes watching promoters and bands cancel, and venues close and trying to discuss what to do about it. A couple of us had already begun to quarantine.
How has that affected your plans for the coming months? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
A number of summer shows were canceled. Our bassist moved to Edmonton in part due to everything canceling. That slowed down in-person jams even more than the pandemic already did. We have taken it as an opportunity to get more practice, to really hone the material for the next release.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home?
Practice, practice, practice! More writing & planning for upcoming recording. Oh, and playing more D&D as a band!
What was the first thing you did/place you went to now the country is starting to slowly re-open?
Chris - A friend's drag show! TJ - To the pub for a pint and a pizza. David - The gym. Jesse - I had to go to work.
Favourite Starlite Room Moment?
Too many shows, too many bands, Ensiferum and TYR for Paganfest, probably.
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
Chris - Never stop being a nerd about the things you enjoy! TJ - Stay safe through the Journey in the Dark, some day we'll get our live scene again. David - Be kind and understanding, you never know what someone is going through. Jesse - Always keep learning and practicing, don't compare your talents to other people.
