With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?

I was in New York March of 2020! I had been touring with an electronic artist named Yppah, and had plans to go to Europe from there. At our last show, the venue had just announced it was going to shut down. They gave us the choice to perform for the very few people that decided to come out, and we did. Everyone was spread out and I remember seeing people just listening with their eyes closed. It was scary, but I think it was a calming moment amidst a lof or fear and uncertainty. We spent the next two days hiding up in our hotel reversing our flights to get back home as safely as possible.

How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?

I had planned to release my EP in 2020 and do a West Coast tour. With the pandemic, the Black Lives Matter protests, and the election looming ahead, it became very clear that this music was not what anyone needed. I did question if the music would ever find it's place, and at the time it felt so unimportant. I hope that it can have a positive effect on people now.

What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?

My family and I own restaurants, so we did not have very much downtime last year. We were trying our best to make our businesses work as safely as possible. I do think it had a big effect on my mental health because the stress and fear was just so consuming. I'm trying my best to wind that anxiety down now.

As things are reopening & restrictions are lifting have you booked any new gigs? Tours? Etc? If your region is still under restriction, how are dealing with the Covid third wave?

I have realized that one of the things I miss most is the intimacy of the smaller shows. I'm hoping to begin hosting some small community based shows where I can begin to share my music, and also feature other artists that are in a similar position.

Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?

My message is that I hope you can give yourself grace, as well as find strength to ask yourself tough questions. There are ways to heal wounds, overcome fears, and ultimately love and accept yourself. It's a continuous journey!
