Straight from Samara's imagination to your mouth...
It's Basil, Not Basil
INGREDIENTS
2oz Gin (dealer's choice...we used Bombay)
3/4oz Strawberry Cucumber simple syrup (see below)*
3/4oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
handful fresh basil
1 egg white
1 dash Angostura Bitters
Strawberry & Basil sprig for garnish
Strawberry Cucumber Simple Syrup*
INGREDIENTS
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
10ish strawberries fresh or frozen
1/2 cucumber, sliced
Strawberry Cucumber Simple Syrup
DIRECTIONS
Add water and sugar to a pot and bring to a boil.
Add strawberries and cucumber and cook for about 10mins, taking care to mush the goods from time to time.
Remove from heat, strain into a mason jar, and leave to cool to room temperature.
DIRECTIONS
Add simple syrup and basil to cocktail shaker and muddle.
Add gin, lemon juice, and egg white and dry shake to create foam.
Add ice and shake again until chilled.
Strain into a coupe glass.
Add 1 dash of bitters.
Strawberry and basil sprig for garnish.
Voila!
Now argue over what to call it, and how to say it.
A strange Easter to be sure, but that doesn't mean you can't do it with a drink in your hand.
