With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
We were in the process of recording our first album and planning our release party and the pandemic shut this all down.
How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
We had planned an album release party in April of 2020, then changed the date a few times but it was not to be. Then we wanted to tour to promote our album. We also had a tribute to the women of country show that we had to cancel. Debbie and Patty have been inducted into the Northern Ontario Music Association's Great Northern Opry. Lois was to be inducted in November of 2020 but the event had to be postponed.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?
We have been writing songs. We have been practising. We have been doing media interviews. We have hired Eric Alper as our promotions specialist and we are working with him to develop new pathways.
How are dealing with the Covid third wave?
The third wave is a disappointment to all musicians but we are keeping Women In Song in the public eye by updating our Website and our Women in Song and personal Facebook pages when anything of note occurs for our group. We are dealing with the third wave by leaning on each other, selling our CDs on line, making plans for a future tour. We have all had our first vaccination and we are hoping that Covid comes to an end sooner than later.
Favourite Starlite Room Moment?
Starlite Sessions recently came to our attention through Eric Alper and we are thrilled to be a part of Starlite Sessions.
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
We are proof that it is never too late to realize your dreams. We are 3 retired women in our early sixties who have been playing music together for over 20 years. We finally realized our dream of releasing a debut album with 13 original songs. Dreams do come true!
