With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?

We were on a tour in the UK celebrating 15 years of our debut album, Young For Eternity. It was a very strange and scary time, with the news and information we had changing hourly.

How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?

We have rescheduled the UK leg of the Young For Eternity tour to Autumn this year. We had to cancel the European leg, as its just a little too complicated right now to plan with so many countries involved. We very much hope to be able to do the UK shows this year, but we absolutely do not want to put the health of our fans at risk, so will only play if it's safe to do so. Our 5th album is ready to release, but we want to be back touring before we do this, so it's on hold for now. In the meantime we have just released a new single, called Fight on 7". It's a song we are incredibly proud of that Billy wrote after attending a Black Lives Matter protest. He describes it as "a gesture of love and solidarity with the Black community, and it's a wake-up-call to the white community about the importance of allyship in the fight for equality and justice).

What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?

Most of 2020 was spent finishing the new album. We couldn't meet up in person as we all live quite a distance away, but we found a way to finish the album separately. I set up a vocal booth and a way to record bass in my bedroom, and sent files for Billy to add in at his studio. We are so proud we managed to make it work! Having something positive to concentrate on really helped me through this time. I've also always really used exercise to keep on top of my mental health. Although I was pregnant for a lot of the pandemic, so it was more yoga and walking, than the running I'm used to.

How are dealing with the Covid third wave?

I had my second baby in January, which has certainly kept me busy! I've found it hard to keep me three year old entertained, especially when the weather was bad here in January and February. I feel really bad for her, as she's been bored a lot, which isn't fair when you're three! It's easier to go to parks now that its a bit warmer and I don't worry about the poor baby freezing! It's certainly been a strange time to have a baby, but he has brought so much joy and gives me hope.

Favourite Starlite Room Moment?

We have only played in Edmonton once, a realllllly long time ago. I think it must have been on tour for our first album. We would so love to come back - please can we?!

Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?

We hope you're all doing okay and surviving during this totally shit year. We very much hope we'll be able to come and play for you again some time once this is all over. We have been a band for over 15 years now and we are eternally grateful to our fans for coming to shows and getting excited about our new music. This single Fight, is the most political song we have ever written and we were quite nervous before it was released, but also knew that we really wanted to spread this message. The response has been humbling and overwhelming - that you so much to everyone that’s taken the time to listen. We hope to see you on stage soon!
