CURRENT MEMBERS

I am a solo artist who can play live with a band.

With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?

I was just about to start working together on my debut EP with my, then just new found, producer (Louis Souyave). We had just met in a studio session in London and really clicked musically. I live in Rotterdam, so we planned for me to come over to London a few times to record the songs for the EP but a week after our first meeting we weren't allowed to travel anymore because of the first lockdowns.

How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?

First, we were in the middle about what to do: should we wait for the pandemic to be over or should we try to work on the EP over the internet? We decided to try to go for it and it worked out really well for us. We found ways to do sessions remotely (over Zoom). By sharing our screens, showing our projects (in Logic) to each other that way, and be streaming our audio to each other we were able to do sessions over distance. Eventually, we finished the EP this way. We released the first single in October later that year and I have not regretted releasing it during the pandemic. I feel like it gave me the opportunity to create visibility as an artist online. Of course, I would have loved to promote the EP more by playing gigs, but I feel like we made the best of a shitty situation.

What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?

Music was, and is still, my saviour during this time. In the beginning of the lockdown there was a lot of anxiety about the situation of course, but I was lucky enough to find myself healthy. This way, the lockdown gave me the opportunity to full time focus on creating new music, which has been really incredible. By having such a clear focus I luckily didn't cope with mental struggles.

As things are reopening & restrictions are lifting have you booked any new gigs? Tours? Etc? If your region is still under restriction, how are dealing with the Covid third wave?

Yes, luckily some gigs have come in for the summer, and I already played a few gigs (one of them being the releases how for my EP, which was so much fun). I hope to book a tour for the end of the year but we should see how the situation is going to develop.

Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?

If you have a dream, visualize it and you'll get there.
