With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
We were in NYC. We remember watching the NBA the night that it cancelled the rest of the season. We had a show planned for just a few weeks after everything stopped. Hopefully that show will finally take place sometime this year!
How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
We had plans to release a couple of songs throughout last year, but with the uncertainty of the pandemic, we decided it wasn't the right time. It didn't feel like the world needed the fun, lighthearted, funky pop music that we like to make, so we waited. This year, we've already released one song and we'll be putting out more throughout the year, plus a music video, and shows in the fall to be determined! We are excited for things to continue to get back to normal, and hopefully people will be craving fun danceable music after a really tough 2020.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?
We've been doing a ton of cooking. And eating! I (Jackson) find cooking to be so similar to making music, and it's such a great getaway when things are tough or I am burnt out. We also wrote "Earth In Retrograde" which helped us put into words a lot of the things we were feeling about the last year, and that was a great sort of therapy to just get it out and on a page and into a song.
As things are reopening & restrictions are lifting have you booked any new gigs? Tours? Etc? If your region is still under restriction, how are dealing with the Covid third wave?
We haven't booked any gigs just yet, but we're hoping to be back playing live in the NYC area in the fall!
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
We hope everybody is staying healthy and happy and finding some new music, food, or things to do that get you excited. You deserve it!!
