With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
We had just begun the making of our first single "Over You" on our upcoming EP with a new producer, Roy Hamilton III at the Singer's Company. This was the song that would introduce our new sound to our audience.
How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
Having the break and taking a halt on performing gave us time to fully immerse ourselves in the creative process of writing music and solidify our sound. Before the pandemic, we were unsure of the approach we wanted to take, but because of it we discovered who we were when it came to our music, and the messages we wanted to share. We were planning on doing many upcoming shows that summer, but then switched gears to online performances. Some online shows we did were live videos for Main Street Unionville, which we commonly do live in the summer, the Star Pow-R Buy Local Online Series to support small businesses, and we were hosts of Youth Day Global, just to name a few.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?
Alongside being full-time high school students, we have devoted lots of time to writing new music, honing in our our instruments, especially Annie with the ukulele, and continue to work on our radio show we host, The Caardia Show, on Agape Greek Radio. The pandemic has definitely taken a toll on our mental health, but music has been something that is always there when we need it.
How are dealing with the Covid third wave?
It has been tough, as it feels like it is groundhog day everyday, but we still look for the opportunities in hard times. We have taken this time to continue writing our second EP, continue to have a presence on social media, and make sure to find times to zoom friends and family.
Favourite Starlite Room Moment?
We are huge vinyl collectors, so seeing the Vinyl Unveil Series is a great place for recommendations and hearing about the history and details behind vinyls.
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
No matter what the situation is or what emotions you are feeling, music will always be there for you to listen and relate to. It is important to know that there are always stories artists communicate through music that can connect on a deeper level, and show relevance in our day to day lives.
