With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
I had just finished filming a music video with my band at Vancouver’s The WISE Hall just days before the first lockdown began last March. We were filming a crowd scene with about 20 extras and very grateful everyone stayed healthy. This was the last time I played live with my band.
How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
Yes, 2020 was album release year for me and I had planned multiple tours and large shows, all of which were cancelled.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?
My COVID silver lining has been that I’ve connected with an amazing community of musicians online during this time. We’ve supported one another on the socials and have tuned in to each other’s livestreams. This has really kept me going and kept me engaged in a community. I’ve been working on more DIY videos during this time and amping up my video skills.
How are dealing with the Covid third wave?
This feels like the 3rd wave currently! I have definitely had my ups and downs and wish for more in person social connections. As I said a little earlier, the online connections with other musicians during this time have been gold!
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
Keep going! Reach out to your loved ones and try to make new connections even while we’re all physically separated. It makes such a difference! Also, Eric Alper sent me this link and asked me to fill it out. Thanks so much for your support! 💕
