With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
We had just made the transition to a three-piece from four, and we're trying (unsuccessfully) to fulfill our previous show obligations. It was painful to get through, but it gave us great ideas for where to take the band.
How has that affected your plans for the coming months? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
For us, Covid was kind of a blessing in disguise. With the departure of our guitar player (and how much we all hate being social) we decided to take the band in a new direction with the three remaining members - drums, bass, and vocals. It's been a really exciting experience writing and dialling in our sound with such a unique setup, and the pandemic has given us the time to focus on that while remaining relevant in the scene.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home?
A lot of practice, and a lot of writing. We've had to re-tool a number of our old songs to work with our new formula, and outside of that we've been writing heavily. With our member and gear setup we're working in uncharted territory that we've never seen anybody attempt before, so we're trying to blaze a new trail while remaining loyal to our sound and the genre that we love playing. We're hoping to have a little sample EP done soon, with plans for our sophomore album coming shortly after.
What was the first thing you did/place you went to now the country is starting to slowly re-open?
Drinking. So. Much. Drinking.
Favourite Starlite Room Moment?
The annual Yuletide Bonanza is always a killer celebration. During the first one we "accidentally" suplexed Trevor through our merch table. The memories (scars) of that will never go away.
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
We hope that everyone is staying safe and doing what they can to keep Edmonton's punk scene thriving. Much love to all of our fans and all of the people we've played with along the way, and we cannot wait to get back to playing shows and debuting our new material to the people who have loved us and supported us all this way.
