With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
I (Valerie) work at a skate shop in a mall. I was at work when the news started to pick up and we didn’t know how serious it was. Every day that week more stores in the mall started closing. Mine was one of the last to close and I’ve been out of work since mid-late March. I actually start back next week.
How has that affected your plans for the coming months? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
The Anti-Queens lost a few shows through April and March. We lost a cross-Canada tour with The Creepshow, and we will miss a European tour in July. Everything is slated to be rescheduled, likely to 2021.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home?
The AQ has been keeping busy with an online schedule. We have come up with fun ideas to interact online with fans, and put ourselves out there with the intent to provide fun entertainment. We have also been writing. All of us are set up to record at home so we’ve been sharing ideas and building songs. Lastly, we have introduced two new merch items in our online store, including brand new AQ masks.
Favourite quarantine meal?
In quarantine I learned how to cook. My favourite thing I’ve learned is chicken breasts stuffed with feta and red peppers. Yum!

The Anti-Queens are alive and well, and we look forward to seeing all our fans faces in the coming months as we eradicate this pandemic.
