With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
Well, we were about to play our first show of 2020 on Friday March 13th (ooo spooky), and things were just beginning to get uncertain and we decided to postpone the show. It just seemed like the responsible thing to do. We had only played 1 show in 2019, so we were pretty pumped for this one.
How has that affected your plans for the coming months? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
We were right in the middle of trying to finish our 4th LP, so other than not being able to play some shows, this was the main thing affected by all this. We're very close to getting it done, and we only really have vocals and mixing to do, so it’s kinda looking like we might be able to get back in the studio in a safe manner pretty soon, fingers crossed!
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home?
We've all been able to keep somewhat busy. I (Tony) have been cooking a lot and spending time in my woodshop. Adam was able to finish his semester of teaching and has been doing some fly fishing, Macey has been doing renos at her restaurant (Budgies Burritos) and is now getting ready to start providing take out again, and Jesse has been able to his engineering work for Rain City Recorders.
Favourite quarantine meal?
Gotta be nachos! But we've also enjoyed ordering food from our favourite local spots as well!
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
I think my message would be to not be too hard on yourself, these are not regular times. You shouldn't beat yourself up if you're not working out or reading a bunch of books or whatever you might see other people doing out there in the world. Eat some nachos, relax, you're doing great. Also, remember how much we're leaning on low wage workers at the moment, see how important they are, and treat them with the due respect.
