With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
Alleviate was preparing to play a show with a great band from Ontario (Kasador) when we got the news that we wouldn't be able to do so.
How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
We were in the midst of planning a tour out West to Vancouver. Of course, those plans got squashed really quickly once lockdown hit.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?
We've been trying different things to pass the time. Whether that's honing our skills on our respective instruments, writing new tunes when allowed, or doing quick group video calls to catch up with everyone. It is tough not playing shows, seeing shows, or practicing regularly with the guys so we try to be there for one another. Like previously mentioned we'll do video calls. One great thing we did to boost our spirits was to compile footage of our tour last year to make a movie. We all sat down together and watched it. It was all the moments in between shows, van shenanigans, inside jokes from our hotel room experiences, just memories like that were compiled together so we could all laugh and remember the great times we had on tour last year.
How are dealing with the Covid second wave?
Just the same as the last I guess. Staying in touch helps us not go insane!
Favourite Starlite Room Moment?
We've all attended so many shows there that it's hard pin point a favourite. We do have an incredible fond memory of very first CD release show, Aggressive Grace. We promoted the crap out of that show and wound up getting 400 people into Starlite for our Aggressive Grace CD release in May of 2017. It was awesome sharing a night with so many music lovers, creating that bond with people through live music!
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
We can't wait to see everyone again. Whether that be for our shows or the bands we mutually love, see you in the crowds!
