With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?

After nearly three years of writing and recording music, it looked like 2020 was going to be the year Rogue Species hit the scene. Then it became as if the social hierarchy manipulated the members to ostracize one other. The pandemic was, without doubt, an unwelcome experience, however, it was a perfect time for each of us to leverage the opportunity to collaborate, release music, and rise above.

How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?

The shutdown gave us a lot of time to finish recording our tracks and release the music.

We have no singing or wind instruments so, perhaps we could have performed during the restrictions without any fear of breathing Covid19 on people, however, we failed to seize the opportunity.

The band has not had any cancellations but its members have had tours and shows postponed with their other projects.

What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?

We have filled our new-found free time with writing music and recording music in our new projects. It was a great time to dig deep and fine-tune the craft.

As usual, our mental health is supported by giving and receiving gift of love.

As things are reopening & restrictions are lifting have you booked any new gigs? Tours? Etc? If your region is still under restriction, how are dealing with the Covid third wave?

Alberta has lifted all restrictions and we have now all gigged with our other projects.

We have dealt with the restrictions by revisiting the works of Hans Christian Anderson. The morals of The Emperors New Clothes, The Little Mermaid, and The Ugly Duckling have given us a foundation to ground ourselves in these crazy times.

Favourite Starlite Room Moment?

Many years ago one of us attended a New Years Party. He was given a complementary bottle of Champaign. It was sour, the worst Champaign ever and it made him sick. He got bounced out one door and simply walked back inside through the other door.

Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?

Please be thankful for all that you have, and have mercy.
