“Half A Day Away” marks Jake Ian’s seventh full length release and the first since 2017’s critically acclaimed, “The Trestle”. The album sees the Edmonton based singer-songwriter taking impressive strides as a lyricist, arranger and producer, melding strains of time honored folk and country with a modern reckless energy. We are presented with Ian at his most authentic, supported by a diverse cast of musicians whose performances thoroughly compliment the songs allowing the stories within to take the forefront. Songs like “That Damn Filthy River”, “The Lucky Ones” and “Dear Eleanor” offer a deeply personal glimpse into Ian’s world, reflecting on growth, regret and a desire to move forward. “I feel like I’ve really found my voice as an artist”, Ian explains, “I’m at a point in my life where I want to write songs for myself…songs that are honest…songs that mean something to me.”
