LEGENDS OF THE EDMONTON MUSIC SCENE | Starlite Room’s 30th Anniversary
MARK RODGERS Has been a volunteer at CJSR since 2011. This is episode #118 of the ‘Legends of the Edmonton Music Scene’ series. He produced and edited this final feature based on two live radio shows that air in Nov. 2019 on CJSR in Edmonton Alberta 88.5 fm. In total he gathered 64 minutes of interviews from 5 different voices that originally aired to help promote the two anniversary shows at the Starlite Room. He want to connect some of the stories from the two separate radio shows but also have a final episode for the coming Legends of the Edmonton Music Scene website. This featured was finished in time for the CJSR holiday loop as well (late 2019).
PRODUCTION NOTES AT A GLACE 64 minutes of interviews from 5 different voices divided into close to 20 clips· The element starting at 1:46 and going to 2:45 has 33 clips alone and took its own multi track to produce· 8 feature songs and with 20 the songs used in the background
THE VOICES: (In order of appearance)
PETE THE ROCKER is the host of the radio series and has been the lead inspiration behind the Legend of the Edmonton Music Society.
MARK (who will someday Rock) RODGERS Is producer of both live radio shows and final feature.
RICH BOMBER is the owner of Freecloud Records and founding member of the band Mad Bomber Society. They played the venue many times and Rich had worked multiple roles over the years including booking one of the first sold out touring show. He also claims to be the first person to sign up for a membership to Bronx in 1989.
TYSON BOYD is the current part owner and operator of the Starlite Room; former General Manager of the Pawnshop Live. He’s well known in the Edmonton/Alberta music scene.
OLIVER FRIEDMANN is the original operator of the venue from 1989-2003/04. He did no other media in the city for the 30th anniversary. This was the biggest get for the feature, an exclusive interview for CJSR with one of the people responsible for this this legendary venue.
BRENT OLIVER was the GM of the venue in the mid 2000s and is now arts administrator for the City of Spruce Grove. Also well known in the Alberta music scene and was on his own episode of the Legends Series.
DAVID STONE is approaching legendary status in the city. He works for Live Nation now and got his start working at the venue; future Legend of the Edmonton Music Scene.
