EPISODE 27 | John Martineau

HOMETOWN HUSTLE this podcast/conversation series is back for 2020 beginning with a chat with scene legend, performer, bassist for heavyweights like Prevail, This Conviction etc. & synth enthusiast (more on that later…) John Martineau!

Disclaimer - I am once again asking for your understanding as this episode is AUDIO-ONLY due to goofs on my part (ie. haste makes waste, keep track of your battery life & always spin your camera screen towards you whilst filming solo.) Next week will feature BOTH audio & video together! I'll track down some of the records we mention here and feature them next week!

EPISODE 27 John and I met in the early 2000s, while we were both coming up in bands in the Grande Prairie arts & music scene. Our bands leveled up and gigged a LOT in the area, across Alberta, putting on our own shows, trading shows with bands form elsewhere, recording lots and really making a go of it. We talk about our musical journeys, putting in the hours pushing our bands to the limit, scene-building, many other stellar artists and Fatherhood. I mention interconnectedness below, and this chat really exemplifies that concept as we share so many more artistic collaborators and experiences than we previously realized.

Kudos to many folks are given, including Justin Staffen, Shane Seward, Jeremy Gustavson, Scott Oatway, Blake Sundin etc., as well as Mike Dilts (RIP), who played a huge part in the Edmonton live music scene, booking both of our bands and managing and promoting some of Edmonton’s top bands, including Marble Engine et al.

I think we mention the Boss Waza Air in this part of the convo: https://www.boss.info/us/products/waza-air/
