It's Sunday night...
IT’S SUNDAY NIGHT…
What to do?
I head to my kitchen and make myself a drink: Kaylee's famous jungle jus (juice). So delicious I tattooed it on my body, but thats a story for another time. I set my paint brushes and canvas up in my living room and get ready for some creative me time.
Now... what to listen to?
So i'm staring at youtube, wondering what kind of music to put on. When I paint, music is key. It helps guide my brush as if I’m dancing into my piece. Cheesy I know, but the truth.
I think, what would I be doing if this was a regular Sunday? Well last week I spent Sunday (march.15th) dancing and singing with my friends and family for my 26th birthday. Where was I you ask? Heck, you probably don’t need to ask because you were there (if you missed it, shame on you!). I was at the best Jam in the city.
River City Revival's Funk Work jam; hosted by the sensational, mouth watering, silky smooth, tasty jammers, the dynamic duo Paul Steffes and Blair Wilkie.
I can honestly say I was at 90% of their jams, given I did work there, but I chose to go on my day off regardless. It was an atmosphere I wanted to be. Surrounded by familiar faces (who I miss seeing very much) and being able to enjoy passionate musicians have fun.
I sang, I danced, I laughed and I cried.
We sang, we danced, we laughed and we cried.
Now... to paint!
I find the funkiest jam playlist I can, and I squirt my tubes of paint. Ready my brushes, take a chug of my jungle jus. Now I am ready to start my master piece. I dip the brush into water to wet it. Swirl it around in a bright yellow. Humming to "we got the funk". I close my eyes, and take a deep breathe in.
My brush touches the canvas...
Instantly, I hear them call out.
"Yo, Can I get the house music turned down"…
