With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
Dave here: I was just about to head to Florida for work/vacation. Was supposed to leave March 13, the day everything shut down. So I was actually in my Speedo, weeping into my snorkel, as it were.
How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
Our last album—Something Isn’t Happening—had just been released in the U.S., and it might have gotten more plays if famous radio stations were up and running as usual. Album title became very apt.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?
It’s been a rollercoaster. At my lowest point, someone offered me a chance to compose a theme for a cartoon. It ended up not being selected, but it saved me. Totally therapeutic to have a project with a time constraint and one that demanded creativity. I loved it. I also released a covers record (Songs By Other People—spent a long time coming up with that title). I found it hard to finish my own songs, so the covers kept the juices flowing. With the mental health, I find anti-depressants help.
As things are reopening & restrictions are lifting have you booked any new gigs? Tours? Etc? If your region is still under restriction, how are dealing with the Covid third wave?
No gigs or tours booked, but a new project is in the works. It’s called Ballads but we'll probably do death metal.
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
Dance like nobody’s watching from a hedge outside your living room window at 2am.
