The TS Project has been my outlet during the pandemic, no matter what crazy shit happens out in the world,
I could always comeback to my fortress of solitude. It could only ever be a one man band.
With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
I was in a band with some friends and in studio recording our first EP when the pandemic hit, unfortunately that project self destructed quite spectacularly as the stresses of COVID took hold of some of the members. But from those ashes rose Tangled Synergy... a long forgotten moniker from a lifetime ago.
How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
We did have an EP planned for summer 2020 but as with any band that implodes on itself that was swiftly thrown out. Over the course of the last year I’ve been working on trying out different sounds in studio and seeing where the project goes naturally. Apparently I hit a groove because once I found my sweet spot I quickly accumulated over 25 tracks and had a new project on the go without realizing!
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?
As I mentioned, Tangled Synergy grew from an absence I felt after the disbandment of my previous band, but in all honesty it could be said that this new music has been the best thing for me and my mental health in a long time. From the initial onslaught of creativity and the songs that came from that I was able to release an EP on band camp titled The Singularity EP. The full length album I’m wrapping up now is called “Strange Sounds From Inside The Singularity” and is exactly that, just strange sounds from inside me (the singularity) and that notion of being a conduit for the music has been very liberating.
How are dealing with the Covid third wave?
Making music, making music and coffee! The best thing for me as the pandemic continues is keeping busy, whatever your thing is, just keep making it! Whether it’s art, music, food or a mess keep going! The world has shown us it will keep on trucking, it’s on us to make sure we’re right there with it (the coffee helps with that part lol)!
Favourite Starlite Room Moment?
Def the day I got to spend with the gang from Hollerado riding around downtown on a big bike pub crawling around until that evening when we go to hang with the band at the Starlight Room! Not to mention the show was pretty kick ass too!
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
Keep going! Just keep making your art, or doing your own thing, whatever that may be! The world will keep moving forward and it’s up to us to keep up with it! Be excellent to each other!
