With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
We were in our 4th year of the music program at MacEwan, playing twice a week together with new songs being written every practice. We had just played a show at The Sewing Machine mid-February and had many more lined-up with this project as well as the other 5 bands the 3 of us are a part of.
How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
We had plans to record at Royal Studios, our first time tracking out of something that wasn't our friends' basements. We had to reschedule recording for later and socially distance while recording. We also planned on re-recording older tracks and were talking about touring outside of Edmonton for the first time during summer 2020.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?
We've been writing individually a lot. We have about 10 new finished songs and another 10 still in the works. Charles was taking a musicians health class through school and was taught tools and activities to keep himself sane and healthy during and after the pandemic. Shea has been teaching himself classical guitar and Dan has been
How are dealing with the Covid third wave?
We're continuing to socially distance as much as possible. Staying in our apartments and staying safe. We keep in touch with text and video chats every now and then.
Favourite Starlite Room Moment?
Dan got to headline with Medical Pilot in 2019 at the Starlite and the week after, he got to see Godspeed! You Black Emperor play on the same stage. That was a very cool feeling. Shea saw Mono Neon and Ghostnote at jazz fest 2018 and was blown away by their grooves. Charles' favourite moment was seeing Mother Mother on their 10th anniversary O My Heart tour.
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
Keep on rocking in the free world and doot doola doot doo.
