With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?

We had just released my second album ‘Middletown’ and were gearing up to play numerous spring concert series, some great summer festivals, fall concert series, and everything in between including the National Music Centre and folk clubs. We had a whole year planned out and were already booking into Spring 2021.

How has that affected your plans for the coming months? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?

The year of tour dates, festivals, concerts and clubs to tour the album Middletown came to a halt. Based on previous years, I would have been out East at least twice playing shows in Quebec and Ontario but now that will not be happening for some time. This year will look different and that's ok. We still have a roof over our heads, our health, and shows coming up online and are going to be releasing some singles. We are making the best of it and there are always some special silver linings.

What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home?

I cook a lot of good food and finally have started to get back into my writing to finish some songs. I have been creative in other ways and have spent this extra time doing things I normally would not have like organizing my gear and my house in general. I have finished up some singles with Lorrie Matheson and we will be releasing those in December and in early 2021. We are playing online private concerts and November 14th we are playing the South Country Fair online concert series at Festival Hall. I am looking forward to playing shows regularly and getting back into the studio for the next album.

What was the first thing you did/place you went to now the country is starting to slowly re-open?

I played a fundraiser at the Ironwood to support our Calgary Venues.

Favourite Starlite Room Moment?

I played a show at the Starlite opening for a friend a few years ago that resulted in me meeting a bunch of great people that I am still connected with to this day. I love how receptive Edmonton is to and within the music community. The vibe and experiences like these keep me wanting to come back and play there.

Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?

Yes. If you feel like things are weird and different it’s because they are. If you don’t feel yourself, that is a normal reaction. Put on your favourite album and listen to that. It helps. I feel for everyone out there struggling right now and believe me I get it. Even though we are so distanced from one another right now, in some way have never felt so connected to people.
