With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
I was in-between a really cool single release show for my previous single and preparing to perform at SXSW. But then SXSW got cancelled and then everything else fell with it.
How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
The band that I perform with live in Tulsa were going to start playing more outside of Oklahoma and that brought all of that to an end. Also restricted recording on some aspect as well. So it was definitely a sharp end to a few things.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?
Amira, manager, percussion player and roommate, and I started a "morning show" on Facebook called Coffee with Casii. I sing and play songs with just my piano and then we interview someone in Tulsa. It could be a small business owner, musician, activist, or an artist. Just checking in and seeing how they're doing and telling people about what they have coming up. So that's been fun to connect with people that way. It helps to still have things to work on and do through this time. Also, we did record a new song called Here Comes the Light.
How are dealing with the Covid second wave?
This whole variant thing is for the birds.
Favourite Starlite Room Moment?
It will be my favorite moment when I can come and perform there. That will be my favorite moment. :)
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
Yes. It's okay to scream if you need to. It's okay to rant. It's also okay to enjoy the little things when they come.
