With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
When all this started I was coming back from a trip to Cuba. Thankfully I came back at the right time, precisely before everything shut down.
I was also organizing a crew to record the music video for my previous single "Heroe" when everyone was locked down.
How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
Like everyone else, all my plans changed although I like to think that our actions define us rather than our circumstances.
I have been recording some songs and promoting my music around the world from Toronto. One amazing thing to come out of this is the ability to hold interviews virtually from thousands of kilometers away!
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?
I have been learning to live day by day doing as much as I can and selecting carefully the type of information I allow into my life.
I am an actress and singer-songwriter and both worlds have drastically changed but it doesn't mean I can't continue training and learning new things. On the contrary, I think the world is for those who have the ability to adapt themselves to their environment and even to extreme circumstances. So to me this is the time to sing more, write more, dance, paint, meditate and when necessary, be a dramatic actress with my partner (haha)!
As things are reopening & restrictions are lifting have you booked any new gigs? Tours? Etc? If your region is still under restriction, how are dealing with the Covid third wave?
Oh, are we in the fourth wave already? I try not to think about it. I just performed at the Canadian International Fashion Film Festival (CANIFFF) Awards and the Vaughan Latin Festival. I have my new song out - "El Latin Dance" - and I am working on more music with the Grammy-nominated producer Roy Hamilton III. Great things are coming!
