With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
We were gearing up to record a new record and finalize our summer touring plans. Fortunately, we were all at home and safe when things took the turn but we're now dealing with an undetermined timeline of when we can get back into the studio. We're still working on everything else that comes with making a record, the artwork, branding, planning release dates and such.
How has that affected your plans for the coming months? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
As mentioned, we're working on rescheduling everything we had planned between recording and touring. Without having an end date on when real life might start again, it's difficult. We are optimistic that everything will get underway again, as long as everyone is taking necessary precaution.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home?
As a collective, we've been working on new music and planning out the new record. We've also been connecting with our fans through social media. Most recently we started streaming on Twitch and created a TikTok to share some of our more goofy memories from past tours. Some of us are lucky and have been able to keep their jobs through this time so they're still working to keep themselves busy.
Favourite quarantine meal?
For each of us they're different…
Luc: A family sized hot Cheetos
Connor: Steak and Eggs
Brad: BBQ chicken with potatoes and veggies
Nick: I've been cooking a lot. I did a slow cooked brisket with roasted potatoes and broccoli, crispy chicken tacos, homemade ramen as well as a mac and cheese bake.
Tim: Pizza, always pizza.
Favourite Starlite Room Moment?
As a band, we've only been able to play the Starlite stage once. It was when we got to play alongside Seaway, Bearings and Living With Lions in July of 2018. With our EP "Nothing Grows Here" under our belts and new music coming, we're hoping to return to the Starlite stage to celebrate the end of this epidemic and a return to normalcy with all of our friends.
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
Keep staying safe, washing those hands, stay home and help support artists anyway you can. Most of us lost our income along with our jobs and coming back from this is going to be difficult. Stream and share songs, buy merch if you can, and when the dust finally settles, go out to shows.
