With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
When everything came to a screeching halt I was thankfully at home working on all the back end stuff required to release this growing pile of new material. It was hard to see so many friends scrambling too get home while losing their livelihoods.
How has that affected your plans for the coming months? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
After a long wait we were ready to release the 2nd Northern Beauties album for the summer of 2020. Nothing had been booked, released or promoted for the new album in March so we could pull everything off the table to wait this storm out. With so much material recorded over the last 4 years it feels a bit anxious to keep it under wraps but it's a luxury we can afford to have.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home?
Family time has been the main focus. Started playing more scrabble too. Not much free time though. There has been a steady stream of writing and some online distance recording back in June with Steve Dawson, it was a different experience with players spread out in Nashville, Toronto and Vancouver. We are recording even more new material with long time friend and the first producer I worked with Stew Kirkwood, live in person, back in hometown Edmonton, early November. It's full circle.
What was the first thing you did/place you went to now the country is starting to slowly re-open?
Camping in the woods away from people.
