With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
We actually played a show on the Friday night just before everything was shut down the following week. We feel very lucky to have been able to play that last show, since we don’t know when we will be able to get up on stage again.
How has that affected your plans for the coming months? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
We had a ton of shows lined up for this year and of course all of them have been cancelled due to the pandemic. Thankfully with Phase 3 in effect, we were able to get into the studio and finish recording our next album. Moving forward, we are rolling with the punches that the world is giving us, and we are going to focus on the resources that we have available to us to make the best of this situation.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home?
Luckily none of us stopped working throughout the pandemic so our Monday to Friday consisted of that. Once we were allowed back into our jam space we began to work and write together again thus filling up our evenings. But with the loss of shows for the time being each of us occupied our time with stuff we love. Brendan with his new fiancé, and the rest of us with workouts and video games.
What was the first thing you did/place you went to now the country is starting to slowly re-open?
As soon as it was okay to do so, we planned practices. Playing together again helped us all to feel a little less weirded out by the current state of the world. Also, the socialisation was nice and was sorely missed.
Favourite Starlite Room Moment?
The current record we are working on titled "Nosferatu" probably has to be our favourite moment because it has become a collective of friends, we have met in the scene over the couple years we have been around. We have made some dear friends from bands all around and being able to work with them and include them on this album has just been nice.
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
It’s important to not let this pandemic get in the way of whatever you are doing. Do not stop. You may not be able to do exactly what you want, the way you want to, but find other avenues to reach your goals. You might have to get creative, but you will be glad that you put the work in while you had the time, before everything returns to what we thought of before as a normal pace. Keep it going, you’ve got this.
