With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
Well, our last gig was around the beginning of March in Peace River, and everything pretty much came to a halt after that. No rehearsals, gigs, or anything really for the next couple of months.
How has that affected your plans for the coming months? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
Well, our summer gigs were pretty much cancelled. We were hoping to play a number of Alberta / BC festivals again this year (after about 7 last year), but those were all cancelled :( Hopefully, they'll be back again next year and we'll get to play those again, summer festivals are our favorite.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home?
Well, we bought some recording equipment and started home recording some content. I've worked a little on some new video and song ideas as well, though we're not entirely sure if production on those will start anytime soon. We don't have that much money for new ventures, and grants have been significantly cut for the next few years by the buffoon currently in charge of the province, so that seems unlikely too. But most of us still have jobs anyway, so we're still kind of busy during the day.
What was the first thing you did/place you went to now the country is starting to slowly re-open?
Some of our mutual friends held a "jam club" camping event, with a good group of musicians jamming through the night. It was some great catharsis for all the festivals and outdoor gigs we missed this summer, and we might have another one of those soon.
Favourite Starlite Room Moment?
We got to open for Electric Six last year. That's one of our favorite bands of all time, and it was amazing being able to share the stage with them - nice to get that off our bucket list! They always put on a great show at the Starlite.
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
Wear a damn mask when you go out in public! And don't listen to any advice Jarret (our fiddle player) gives out on social media, he's wrong on nearly everything.
