With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
We had just played a show at The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto on March 5th, in front of an awesome crowd of fans new and old. The future looked bright, but everything changed just a week later. We watched as the dominoes fell, and everything about the music industry and our plans for the future completely changed before our eyes. We managed to have one more practice before quarantine became inevitable, but haven't been able to reconvene safely since, so we are itching to get back to the basement.
How has that affected your plans for the coming months? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
We were getting ready to release our newest single "1968" on April 17. We had a mini tour booked around Southern Ontario and Montreal, all of which was cancelled. We still released the single and have a few more on the way in the next few months, but it has been hard to watch as the legendary spring and summer that we worked so hard to cultivate was taken away from us.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home?
We have all found different ways to cope with our free time, namely video games and streaming TV shows and movies, like the rest of the 20- something's out there. I have been trying to be outside as much as possible, sitting in the backyard or going for walks around the neighbourhood. Ontario is still pretty deeply affected so although things are starting to open up, we are trying to stay patient. And in the meantime, we've been checking in with each other and keeping on top of Dirty Rick business, trying to stay prepared for when we are able to start playing again.
Favourite quarantine meal?
Burgers and beers! The BBQ has been working overtime, as have our livers.
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
To all you beautiful people at home: Support your local music venues and artists, because you will want them once this is all over. Check in on your friends, even the "strong" ones. And most importantly, love yourself and take care of yourself during this crazy time, so that you may be able to help those around you. We love you all. Stay Dirty!
