With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
We had just gone for a studio tour to record our debut single, and that was the day that it was announced that schools were shutting down for the first time back in March! We had to wait a little while to figure out how we could proceed, and ended up being able to work on the production remotely over Zoom.
How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
It definitely affected the way we were able to promote our single. We were hoping to play some gigs leading up to the release, and do a single release show, and we had to pivot from that.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?
It's been really challenging! We've been working to keep ourselves busy with writing new material, and not lose momentum. Over the summer, we wrote and self-produced a 3-song EP which was released in October. That was a challenge, but it was really helpful to work on something that we were able to release, even in lockdown.
How are dealing with the Covid second wave?
It's definitely made us have to sit down and make some new goals for the next year, and plan how we want to go forward! We challenged ourselves to produce and record 12 "mini" Christmas covers, and that's been a fun project that we can do distantly in our own homes.
Favourite Starlite Room Moment?
One of the first times I ever went to Starlite was to see Royal Canoe a number of years back. Such a great band, and one of my favourite venues!
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
This has been a really tough year for pretty much everyone, but it's gonna pass. We know that it'll take some time, but when we're able to get together and listen to music and dance in the same room, we're all going to come back with more excitement than ever!
