With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?

I'm based in Los Angeles and was just starting my EP. The pandemic slowed the entire process as it did for so many! I also had several shows booked, first up at the Troubadour. I was sad to see that one go.

How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?

I expected to get my EP out a lot sooner. The studio sessions that I had planned were obviously off the table. We learned to work remotely eventually but it took some time. I was bummed to be cancelling everything but, in hindsight, so much good came from slowing down. I can be impatient with my music at times and I really like to just get things done. In that sense, the past year was a chance for me to take my time and be more thoughtful with my decisions, try more things, write more and really focus on each individual track.

What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?

I have been writing non stop. I've written countless songs and lots of poetry. I started making little homemade videos to go with the bedroom productions. I also started painting again and finding time to read. I started a few online courses (that I have yet to finish). Being creative keeps me sane. I also have three roommates so they've really been a source of joy through it all. Talking about it and knowing that we were in it together was the best thing for my mental health.

How are dealing with the Covid third wave?

I feel like I've adjusted at this point, as wild as that sounds. I've got one mask in my purse and one in my car just like a pack of gum. It's so odd when you stop to think about this time last year. But there is still so much to be grateful for, so I focus on that.

Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?

Be fearless, chase your passion, work hard and never let anyone tell you who you are.
